Hello listeners,
Today, we’ve got … a doozy. Fears of another world war, a high stakes presidential election and the very divisive subject of American support for Israel.
Matt and I speak with progressive voters who are considering staying home in November, even if it could lead to another Trump presidency. We unpack our reporting from the 2024 March on the DNC, examining the ways it compares—and doesn’t—to the 1968 March on the DNC and more.
We also mention that a short video I took at the march ended up going viral on Instagram, with millions of views and thousands of revealing comments about our divided country and how some Americans view these protestors.
(I should say: I am not an online influencer, don’t have a big following on Instagram, and just nonchalantly shared it with my friends because I thought it was kind of funny).
In the same spirit with which we've approached previous stories on important societal debates—ranging from sex and gender to claims of stolen elections—our aim is not to persuade listeners toward any particular side. Rather, we hope to shed light on why understanding these debates is worth our time, to gain deeper insight into the views of those we are reporting on, and to place today's events within a broader historical context.
As always, we love hearing your feedback. Please shoot us an email at hello@reflector.show.
